This one pan meal is loaded with vegetables and steak that has been marinated in an Asion
inspired marinade.
Ingredients
2 lbs. Sirloin Steak
For the Marinade:
1 tablespoon + 1 ½ teaspoons cornstarch (1 tbsp + 1 ½ tsp = 1 ½ tbsp)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon teriyaki sauce or 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
2 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced ginger
Salt & pepper to taste
2 cups of bell peppers (any color or a combination off)
1 medium white or yellow onion
2 celery stalks
1 teaspoon minced garlic (In addition to above)
1 teaspoon minced ginger (In addition to above)
Salt & pepper to taste
Sauce/Slurry
The amounts will depend on how thin or thick you want your sauce, as a starting point I
would recommend.
⅓ cup cornstarch
½ cup cold water
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon dark soy sauce or teriyaki sauce
Instructions
Cut steak into desired bite sized pieces and place in a large bowl. Combine all the ingredients
for the marinade and pour over the steak and mix to coat. Cover and let marinate for 30
minutes.
While the steak is marinating, cut the bell peppers, onion and celery into bite sized pieces
and set aside.
Prepare the slurry, add all the ingredients into a bowl and stir to combine and set aside.
After the steak has marinated, add 1-2 tablespoons of veg oil to a large skillet over medium
high heat. Sautee the steak pieces till browned on both sides (Remember don't crowd the
pan, so most likely you will have to do 2 or 3 batches). When steak pieces are browned,
remove to a plate, set a side and continue the process till all steak in browend.
Using the same frying pan you browned the steak in (Do not drain) lower the heat to
medium then add the minced garlic and ginger and saute for 30 second, then add all the
vegetables.
Continue to saute on medium to medium high heat till vegetables have reached your
desired tenderness (We like the veg tooth tender so about 10 minutes).
Return the steak to the frying pan and mix to combine with the veg. Give your slurry a mix
and begin to drizzle over the steak and veg. You slurry will start to thicken very quickly, once
your sauce as reached your desired consistency, remove the pan from the heat source and
serve.
