Description
Chess Pie is a classic Southern Pie. It’s sweet, buttery and tangy all at the same time and is
now one of my favorites.
Ingredients
1 Deep Dish Pie Crust (frozen/Made from scratch) If frozen, follow the package direction.
1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, softened (room temp)
1½ cups sugar
4 large eggs (room temp)
2 tablespoon all purpose flour
1 tablespoon of yellow cornmeal
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup evaporated milk (you can use whole milk as well)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degree F
In a large bowl mix the butter and sugar until well combined, add eggs and continue to mix
until well blended, then add the all-purpose flour, yellow cornmeal, salt, vinegar, vanilla and
milk and continue to mix until well combined.
Pour mixture into pie shell and bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for 50-60 minutes (The
top of the pie should golden brown) till middle is set, or until a knife inserted in the center
comes out clean. Allow the pie to cool completely and serve.

Additional Comments
If you find the edges of the crust are browning too fast, cover the edges with foil.
