Description

Easy to make slow cooked baked beans. Your friends and family will love these brown sugar, molasses and bacon slow cooked beans.

Ingredients

1-pound Dried Navy/Great Northern Beans 1-pound Thick Cut Bacon 1 Large Sweet Onion ¼ cup Tomato Paste ½ cup Dark Brown Sugar ¼ cup Molasses (I use Grandma's Molasses Robust) Vegetable Broth 2 teaspoons Salt 1 teaspoon Pepper

Instructions

Cover beans with cold water and soak overnight (8-12 hours) in refrigerator. Drain beans reserving any remaining water. In a large pot over medium heat add chopped onion and bacon and cook about 5 minutes or until onion is slightly softened. Remove from heat and stir in tomato paste, brown sugar and molasses. Add enough vegetable broth to the remaining soaking water to make 4 cups and add to pot. Add soaking waster and vegetable broth (4 cups) salt/pepper and bring to a boil. Transfer to Crockpot and cook on low 7-9 hours.

Additional Instructions

You can also cook in the oven. Bake in a covered Dutch oven/casserole type pan on 250 degrees for 7 hours.
