Description
American Chop Suey is a classic New England comfort food and my personal all-time
favorite. It is seasoned beef with green bell peppers and onions simmered in a rich tomato
sauce then mixed with elbow macaroni.
Ingredients
1-pound Large Elbow Macaroni
2 pounds Ground Beef
2 Large green Bell Peppers
1 Large yellow Onion
45 oz jar of your favorite Red Sauce
6 oz can of your favorite Tomato Paste
1 tablespoon granulated Garlic
1½ teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Pepper
2 tablespoon Canola Oil
Instructions
Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the bell peppers and onion for 4-5 minutes on medium heat.
Add ground beef, salt & pepper and brown well. Turn heat to low add granulated garlic,
tomato paste and stir until beef, bell pepper and onion is coated. Add pasta sauce and
combine well, simmer on low while you cook the macaroni according to package instruction
for al dente.
Combine drained pasta and the sauce mixture making sure to coat pasta evenly. Serve hot
and garnish with your favorite pasta cheese if desired.
